Founded in 1270, the Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges is a wine-making hospital. Less famous but not less prestigious than the Hospices de Beaune, this is the event when top-level estates in Côte de Nuits sell its harvest on auction every third Sunday of March.

Bordering Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin

While Champs Chenys just at its hip (the lower section of Mazoyères-Chambertin*) is classified as Grand Cru, Champs-Chenys was only classified as a village-level wine. Both vineyards hold the same position and exposition on the hillside. Both vineyards sit above the same Comblanchien limestone. Immediately above Champs-Chenys, on the other hand, is the Grand Cru “au Charmes”.

This vintage is marked by a perfect balance supported by oak tannins due to aging in new barrels. Its richness and depth surprises many a taster.
