Description

Château Fourcas Hosten is located in the Haut-Médoc of Bordeaux, with 50 hectares of vineyards in Listrac-Médoc. In 1810, Mr Hosten sold his vineyard holdings to the Saint Affrique family, who established Château Fourcas Hosten. With the different successions, the shareholders are multiplying, with traders like the Sichel and many Americans (38 in 2006). At the time, the vineyard was managed by Patrick Pagès from Fourcas Dupré, his neighbor, who will help brothers Laurent and Renaud Momméja (of the Hermès family) to make their mark. The surrounding forests bring great biodiversity to the territory, placing nature at the center of all attention. Since 2010, the 50 hectares of the property have been the subject of a vast replanting program, initiated over ten years. The study of the soils, leading to a precise mapping, made it possible to adapt the grape varieties as well as possible to each plot. The qualitative shift that began several years ago at Fourcas Hosten is also reflected in the attention paid to the ageing process. Now, they produce three wines; Château Fourcas Hosten (the Grand Vin), Les Cèdres d'Hosten (the Second Wine) and a White Wine since 2014 with vines planted in 2012. Officially in conversion, all the vineyard of Fourcas Hosten is worked in organic viticulture; with certification in 2020 for the white, and 2021 for red wines.

1996 was an exceptional vintage both in quality and quantity, the Cabernet Sauvignon matured to perfection and produced very concentrated wines.
