Description

This veritable masterwork for the ages of a white Bourgogne natural wine from young but already legendary vigneron Yann Durieux has long since become almost a cult object. But in reality it is an incredibly vibrant, crazily alive and staggeringly complex wine: 100% Aligote from 40 years old vines on the hill of Vosne Romanée, just opposite the famed Romanée Conti, on clay-limestone soils. Only biodynamic farming in the vineyard and nothing added or taken away in the cellar, no fining, filtration or any added SO2. It sees a brief skin contact that adds further carnal matter and an elevage of 18 months between large wood and the bottle. Almost metaphysical focus and power in perfect balance with delicate elegance: lightly braised nectarine peach, lime zest and saffron, mineral melodies and iodine lyrics.
