Description

2017 Soho Havana is a densely fruited blockbuster with the enticing sweet and savoury charm that quality Marlborough Pinot Noir is known for. 2015 Havana was awarded Champion Trophy and NZ's No.1 Pinot Noir at the world's toughest wine show IWSC... over 17,000 wines are judged by hundreds of experts including 40 Masters of Wine. Each medal winning wine is tasted at least 3 times by a minimum 10 expert judges... the Trophy winners face even more scrutiny. Havana beat many Pinot Noirs several times its price. 2017 exhibits that same sweet/savoury expression of terroir and rich extract. Crafted by Marlborough master Dave Clouston with certified organic fruit from the clay-rich Southern Valleys, the mouthfeel and texture are sublime, showing off depth and richness.

Hand harvested, 20% Whole Cluster, 50% wild ferment, New oak (25%). Coopers: Francois Freres, Rousseau, Alain Fouquet & Mercurey

Smells
Explosive bouquet of red cherries and raspberries, with dried herbs, dark chocolate and liquorice.

Tastes
Seriously opulent with fine tannin supporting the masses of lavish extract. Its fine structure guiding a mix of plums, cherries and red currants throughout the exotic, spice laden and lingering finish. Utterly drinkable now, it will only get better through 2024.
