Description

This is mouth-filling and so powerful and rich, showing a decadent and full-throttle style. I don’t think you will have had a bonarda like this. Tannic and muscular. Wonderful, expanding finish. Old vines. Drink now.

El Enemigo is a cult wine producer based in the high-altitude wine region of Mendoza, Argentina. The estate is a joint venture by Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, chief winemaker at renowned Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002. Together they created El Enemigo ("the enemy") and the Bodega Aleanna...

Bonarda is a widely traveled red-wine grape variety with a complicated history. Originally from the alpine vineyards of Savoie in eastern France, it is now mostly planted in Napa Valley, where it is known as Charbono, and in Argentina, where it goes by the name Bonarda. The variety's wines are generally medium bodied with high acidity and berryfruit aromas and some smoky characteristics. It is most important viticulturally in Argentina, where it is second only to Malbec in terms of plantings.
