A perfectly well-structured and silky red Burgundy from an appellation that often over-delivers. The commune of Pernand Vergelesses is located above between Aloxe Corton and Savigny Les Beaune, in the North of the Côte de Beaune. Pernand produces both red and white wines under village and premier cru appellations. The soil is mainly composed of chalky, limestone with small stones / pebbles on the surface. Its name comes from a large cross made of stone at the entrance of the vineyard. Pernand Vergelesses 1er Cru is fermented in vats for 3-4 weeks then it is put into oak casks for 15-18 months maturation.
