Description

Artéis & Co is an ambitious project from the collaboration of Chef de Cave Fabien Gay (formerly of Mumm and Perrier-Jouët) and winemaker Jean-Philippe Diot based in Vinay. Their mission is to produce artisanal Champagnes celebrating the craftsmanship and creativity of winemakers without being commercially constrained.

They source small batches from the best Grand Cru and premier vineyards managed by artisans-vignerons. The wine then goes ‘under cork’, which is to say that it has undergone its second fermentation in bottle but is yet to be disgorged and given its dosage. Sugar and SO2 levels are kept to a minimum for a more natural expression of Champagne.

6 years on lees before disgorgement, the wine is exciting in it’s combination of extremely brisk freshness and its persistence. It has a very attractive, well-balanced neat nose and length on the palate.
