Description

From one of the greatest Bordeaux vintages in recent memory and at the lowest price around, its “seductive style” in a 2005 Bordeaux retrospective, Robert Parker indicates that this is right in its ideal drinking window. Though listed as Haut-Medoc, the Peyrabon vineyards are situated a mere mile away from the Pauillac boundary. Featuring very similar rocky, gravel soils that are the hallmark of top estates just to the east, this Cabernet driven blend shares comparable traits to its more esteemed (and considerably more expensive) neighbors - black and red fruit backed by savory tertiary tones of tobacco, saddle leather, herbs and minerality.

The 2005 Peyrabon transcends its appellation and offers outstanding value, challenging some of the Grands Crus Classés for a fraction of the price. Parker called 2005 “the finest vintage for these wines since 1982”, and you’ll get no argument from us. This Peyrabon is a clear example of just how good the Crus Bourgeois – and Bordeaux in general - can be at this price point.
